"Eater" Blog Dishes Out the Best in Food and Drink

Hey guys..hope everyone had a wonderful warm Thanksgiving. I enjoyed every bit of it..only thing I was missing was my Vonney!

So of course the holidays are here and I'm sick...again! SMH. I have been craving soup lately, so I was browsing different sites that offer up the best in delicious soups in the DC area and I stumbled upon the national food, drink and nightlife blog, "Eater." I must say this is a pretty cool site, which features the best in food, drinks, and spots to visit for whatever you're craving. It doesn't matter your location, Eater has a rundown of places to eat in the top major cities such as Atlanta, Miami, Denver, and Chi-town to name a few. To top it off, they even have a job section for those seeking employment in the hospitality business. You can search for a job and a drink...all in one place! Pretty cool stuff.

This week thru Friday, the blog is promoting their first ever Eater Cocktail Week, where they spotlight the area's best bartenders and cocktail trends, plus hangover foods for those rough nights...yea, we all have them lol. Visit the blog to see where to get your fix of alcohol served perfectly in a sparkling glass and where to go hangout with friends!

Cheers!

LOVE HER STYLE: THE MESSY WARDROBE

Whilst surfing the net, I stumbled upon this fashion diva Marisa Martins who blogs for "The Messy Wardrobe". I wanted to post one of her looks on our Facebook page but I just had to feature this chicks entire wardrobe to MYLM. She is definitely dope in my opinion. Take a look at my outfit faves!

Can we all give her the MYLM STAMP of approval? The high slit and gold chain is my fave! Love it Marisa!

UPDATE Open Disscussion: Vogue Africa Will it Ever Happen?

Photobucket
These beautiful cover shots were taken by Paris based photographer Mario Epanya. His vision, Vogue Africa, does not yet exist. Why not? We have Vogue Nippon, Vogue India, and even Vogue Australia but nothing to represent the beautiful continent full of so much culture and diversity, Africa. It only makes sense to have a magazine to showcase the continents fierce fashion trends, diversity, and creativity.

I believe a Vogue Africa will be well received, it will certainly bring light to the creativity and beauty that lives and breathes within. What do you guys think?

vougeitalia_article-small_10760
UPDATE: The May issue of L'Uomo Vogue is entirely dedicated to Africa, an installment editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani entitled “Rebranding Africa.” Even tho I would have preferred to see an African model grace it's cover instead of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, the issue plans to show how Africa is a continent that is moving and developing. Inside you'll see positive images of Presidents, First Ladies, and Queens, but also artists, writers, musicians, designers and models who will aid in revitalizing Africa's image.
"Only showing its positive side we can change the perception of collective imageries and make it attractive for the production not only of fuel but also of fashion, cinema and tourism".
The May-June issue of L’Uomo Vogue is on newsstands NOW in Milan.

The Buzz About HoneyB.

Hello world,

So this post is a special one. Firstly, I want to introduce a beautiful, positive, extremely motivational person named Bintu Kabba who is clicking her heels and strutting her stuff into the talkshow business! Bintu aka HoneyB. is Philly born and raised Howard graduate who knows exactly what she wants out of life. She is readying herself for an online-based talk show which will include motivational topics on young people believing in themselves and making their dreams become realities. In my opinion, she has the sassy attitude, charm, brains, and personality to withstand the industry and defintely make her dreams a reality.

I am so proud of everything she is doing and more excited that I am her makeup artist!! I see beautiful things happening for us all! Can't wait til everything is off the ground!

Here is a preview of our photoshoot bloopers:

This is just a snip of what's to come. We were getting her ready for her birthday, but also this will be footage for the talk show.

Visit Bintu's blog, The Buzz About HoneyB. and follow her!

Kisses,

Beautiful Words....

Remember Ladies:

Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him.

Wait for the guy who kisses your forehead, who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats.
Who holds your hand in front of his friends, who thinks you' re just as pretty without makeup on.
One who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares and how lucky he is to have YOU...
The one who turns to his friends and says, that's her...

*Sigh*

La Belle Rochelle...

Her name is Rochelle, and she is a fabulous girl. I actually met her randomly one night at a party, and we have kept in touch since then; she is a mutual friend. She interns at WUSA9 News, and like me and Yvonne, she is making her moves in life. Loves her for that!

Anyway, she has a self-titled blog, and she speaks some truthful words. I admire her for her honesty and realness, because everything she says is true! She discusses everything from relationships to friends and the social world. I would recommend checking her out and reading some of her mind-thumping opinions.

A few of my fav snippets:

Friends-How Many of Us Have Them?
  • "We then started talking about current friends and how sometimes there’s an underlying competition between friends…especially when it comes to success and dating."
  • "There are friends out there that only form friendships with certain types of people to make themselves look and feel better about themselves. This is some BS!" (Yvonne, lets not get on this one!)
  • "Call me old-fashioned, but I like having friends that look differently, like different things, have opposing opinions and the list goes on and on.
  • "Unfortunately, this conversation also made me look at some friendships Ive had over the years, and wonder if all of my friends have become my friends for the right reasons."
You Cant Change Me So Please Stop Trying...Thanks

..."We started talking about a young girl that he mentors who is dealing with the “wrong men”. She actually has a young man that is chasing after her who is great, but shes not attracted to him. This gentleman (let me name him Mr. Q for now) looks like the perfect catch on paper…good job, great personality, humor, educated, driven, etc. What more could a girl ask for? Well Mr. Q tells me that unfortunately this young woman is dealing with a man that is simply put all wrong for her. He treats her like crap, isn’t driven at all, doesn’t help her in any way, shape or form. So Mr. Q then begins to explain to me the difference between the “Real Deal” and a “Situation”....

Look at her blog for the rest!!! www.labellerochelle.wordpress.com

Speak your mind,
~M
