Cocktail Spotlight: Summer Sangrias

The weather in D.C. has been one word: HOT! This whole week, the temps reached up to 104 degrees and the humidity was surely accompanying. What better way than to cool off in this scorching heat than with a ice cold glass of Summer Sangria!!! If you know me and Yvonne, you know we love wine and we love Sangria even more. Check out these recipes for both Red and White Sangria.

Red Berry Summer Sangria:
Cabernet Sauvignon (Sutter Home is perfect)
1/2 ounce Red Berry Ciroc
1/2 ounce Peach Schnapps
1/2 ounce Apple Pucker
Splash Pineapple juice
Apples diced
Blueberries diced
Lime diced

White Peach Sangria:
White Zinfandel
1/2 ounce White peach juice (Ocean Spray is a good brand)
1/2 ounce Peach schnapps
Splash Pineapple juice
Peaches cut into chunks
Cherries

Melon Sangria:
Pinot Grigio wine
1/2 ounce Midori or melon schnapps
1/2 ounce Apple Pucker
1/2 ounce Peach Schnapps
Splash Orange Juice
Splash Pineapple Juice
Cherries
Melon cut into chunks
Limes

For all recipes:
Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher. Add fruits last and stir until all incorporated. Refrigerate immediately up to 24 hours and served chilled over ice in wine glasses with fresh fruits.

Refresh Yourself!

Cocktail Spotlight

Courvoisier, one of the world's leading Cognac brands, recently added Courvoisier Rose to it's collection. The spirit, identical in color to rosé wine, is a blend of cognac and premium French wine grapes. The flavor profile features notes of blackberry, black currant and a touch of cherry, complemented by vanilla, honey and vine-peach flavors. YUM!

Because the original Courvoisier is 40% alcohol and Rose is only 18%, it is recommended that consumers drink the spirit alone, rather than blending with juices and mixers.

However, there are always exceptions to the rule! Being the bartender that  I am, I personalized my Courvoisier Rose, which  has a slight fruity taste and is complimented well with apple juice. I call this:

The Courvoisy Rose Fizzle:

Ingredients:
2 oz Courvoisier Rose
1/2 oz Apple Juice
1/2 oz Ginger Ale
Apple slice
Ice
Rocks glass

Recipe:
Pour Courvoisier Rose over ice into rocks glass
Add Apple Juice and Ginger Ale
Garnish with apple slice

I made this drink and it is SOOOOOO good!
